FAQ

Video Content & Instruction

Q: Why do some lessons feature different video makers?

A: The variety helps show different techniques, perspectives, and ways of holding hooks and yarn. All videos are legally shareable and selected to support learning. Over time, we plan to produce our own branded videos for a consistent look and feel, exclusively for the course.

Q: Can the videos be private and branded for my store?

A: Yes! We can create a store-branded landing page so your customers see your logo and colors, while the course content remains secure and private to learners.

Kits & Materials

Q: Are kits required, and how should I price them?

A: Kits are optional. We provide a recommended supply list so learners can source materials locally or from your store. Kits are intended for convenience and to introduce high-quality, natural fibers. Pricing should reflect value while supporting your store’s inventory and small-business sourcing.

Q: How much yarn and what materials are needed?

A: Each lesson includes approximate yardage and hook size for exercises and final projects. This ensures learners have enough to complete the course.

Course Value

Q: Some videos exist online for free — why would my customers pay?

A: The course is more than videos. It’s a structured, diagram-led, hands-on learning path that builds confidence step by step. It’s designed to turn techniques into understanding, not just isolated tutorials. Your customers get a complete learning experience with mini projects, exercises, and troubleshooting guidance.

Q: Why focus on local or natural fibers rather than mass-market options?

A: Using quality fibers supports your business, highlights the difference between fiber types, and teaches learners why materials matter — all while encouraging thoughtful, high-quality crafting.

Feedback & Customer Experience

Q: How can learners give feedback?

A: Feedback flows through the course portal. We encourage learners to share insights about content, pacing, and materials. This helps improve both the course and your store’s experience hosting it.

Q: Can learners suggest new classes or topics?

A: Absolutely! Their input can inform future course expansions, which benefits both your store and the wider crochet community.

These videos are free — why pay?

The same reason people pay for workshops or books even though free tutorials exist online: structure, meaning, and reliability. Our course is designed like a book — not just a collection of videos — so students can learn in a logical progression and also have a reference to return to for years to come.

Crochet can be complicated. The same terms are sometimes used for different techniques, and notation can be confusing. We’ve done the research and added rigor to clarify terms, define concepts correctly, and integrate diagrams to support visual learners.

This isn’t just a set of free videos — it’s a high-quality, research-backed learning system that students can trust. The online format lets us pair videos with diagrams to make concepts clearer, which enhances learning and retention.

Would you have the capability to create your own videos?

Our decision to use existing videos is intentional. They introduce new crocheters to the broader community and show that there’s no single “right” way to crochet. We don’t want to compete with the community by producing our own videos.

By including diverse perspectives, students can explore different learning styles and decide what works best for them. This approach also highlights the talent of the community rather than presenting a rigid, branded “this is the only way” framework.

Did the makers give permission to have them included?

Yes. YouTube’s commercial license allows use of these videos, even for commercial purposes. We don’t modify the videos or claim credit; we enhance their value by wrapping them in a structured, high-quality educational format.

Our platform is designed to build relationships between local yarn stores, indie dyers, and crochet artists. During this pilot phase, we’re collecting feedback to refine our approach. Once the content is finalized, we plan to reach out to the creators and explore collaboration opportunities.

This approach is about increasing visibility and value for the original creators. Artists earn from total views, so featuring their work in our course benefits them. We’ll also compile a list of recommended channels and share it as a course follow-up to highlight their contributions further.

How do I compete with Amazon links?

You don’t need to compete. We’re updating the site to better reflect high-quality, locally sourced materials. While the Amazon links serve a purpose now, they don’t belong next to your premium yarn. I’d love to schedule a time to walk you through the site and discuss your questions in more detail.

What is the right amount of yarn for a kit?

There isn’t a single “right” amount — we don’t expect students to complete everything start to finish in one sitting. Each chapter includes mini projects, and the intro class has three larger projects: a mug rug, a mug cozy, and a beanie. Together, they use roughly 117g of worsted weight yarn — just over one standard skein.

From my understanding, the kit you provided — nearly two skeins — gives students plenty of yarn to explore concepts and complete the larger projects, making it an excellent choice.
